undergraduate research journal and self-titled non-profit corporation that publishes student research in every area ofscience . JYI is run by over 150 undergraduate students and may include some graduate contributors up to two years after obtaining a bachelor's degree. Staff and contributors come from several different countries, and publishing in the Journal and serving on its staff has help prepare its participants for successful careers, and former staff include twoRhodes Scholars [Greensboro News & Record, "Staff & Wire Reports" (21 Nov. 2005). In 1998, JYI was awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation, and, on
3 December , the journal published its first issue. By the second issue, JYI had added undergraduate-writtenfeature article s, describing issues in science for a general audience, and in 2004, JYI added weekly science news.
