Peter Mankoč was born in Ljubljana, where he has been living his entire life. Swimming was his first love; as many other successful swimmers, he too started training very young, at age of 8. As one of the best Slovenian athletes he has been employed as a police officer by Slovenian government.

With height of 1.92 m and weight of 87 kg, Mankoč has always been a short distance swimmer. His strength and explosiveness led to short courses sprint preference, where he has achieved his best results.
Peter Mankoč is a member of Ilirija Ljubljana swimming club, where he developed under coach Dimitrij Mancevič.
Swimming Career Overview
Peter Mankoč participated in three Olympic Games, 1996, 2000 and 2004. His best result is 13th place from 2004 Olympic Games, where he finished 13th in the freestyle event.
He also participated in 4 World Championships, from 2001 to 2007. His best results are 8th place from 2007’s 100 m butterfly event and 7th place from 2003’s 200 m medley event. Apart from that, he has 8 other half finals finishes.
