Plumcot

The Plumcot is a ½ and ½ hybrid between an apricot and a plum. [Hormel Foods, [http://www.hormel.com/kitchen/glossary.asp?id=35065 Glossary of Kitchen and Food Terms] . Retrieved August 27, 2007.] The fruit has the smell of an apricot and the flavor of a plum. The plumcot has a very smooth dark red skin and is peach colored inside. The fruit can be eaten fresh or used to make jam.

The plumcot was created by Luther Burbank by crossing an apricot and a plum.Fact|date=August 2007 Similar hybrid fruit are marketed today under the name pluot.
