"Accidentally in Love" is a song by Counting Crows on the soundtrack of "Shrek 2" (2004). Counting Crows lead singer and songwriter Adam Duritz, best known for melancholy adult contemporary music, thought himself an unlikely candidate to write the love theme to a movie and found writing the song difficult, but fell in love shortly after and found the inspiration to write the song. "Accidentally in Love" was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Song.

Music video

The music video for the song, directed by Meiert Avis, features a stuffed animal (voiced by Adam Duritz) in the apartment of a teen couple (The girl is confirmed to be Ashley Roberts), complete with a TV showing scenes from the film. The animal comes to life and serenades the girl. She falls in love with it and leaves her boyfriend behind while he is in the kitchen making breakfast for her.
