Jerome “J-Square” Jones (
1968 -) is aNew York basedAfrican-American poet , writer,playwright , speaker and publisher. Choosing to focus on contemporary issues and writing with a hip hop influenced rhythm, J-Square, as he is known in the poetry scene, considers his work to be “political/social commentary, with tinge of satire." Jerome has been featured at various venues such as theApollo Theater , S.O.B.’s, TheCherry Lane Theatre and The Nuyorican Poets Café among others.He is co-writer, co-producer and performer of the critically acclaimed multi media spoken word play, "No Good Nigga Bluez": "Poems and Tales of Black Men in a Post-Civil Rights America" along with Mo Beasley, which has been featured in the
2003 NYC International Fringe Festival as well as the 2003 and2004 Congressional Black Caucus . He has also featured at many colleges and universities across the country.In
1998 , he wrote his first book, "Screams From Below The Brain". In2001 , he wrote and performed the one man show, While Being Dragged From A Truck, I Wrote This Poem. In 2003, he co-created Scripted Linguistics Publishing, LLC which, in 2004, published "No Good Nigga Bluez" (the book form of the live show. The book is co-authored with (Mo Beasley ).Jerome is currently working on his next book of poetry, "Made In America", which he looks to publish in
2006 . He also conducts a bi-weekly interview session called Writer’s BLOCK on his web site.External links
