Kemal Monteno (born
September 17 ,1948 inSarajevo ,Bosnia-Herzegovina , thenYugoslavia ) is a popular Bosniansinger-songwriter to a Bosniak mother and an Italian father. He recorded his first song "Lidija" in 1967 and has enjoyed a prosperous career in the former Yugoslavia. One of his most popular songs is "Sarajevo ljubavi moja" ("Sarajevo Love of Mine"), which is maybe the most beautiful song anyone wrote for his home town.He is one of the best songwriters in former Yugoslavia, many say that he is indeed the best. He writes poetry which then turn into music. He also wrote texts for songs that the best singers in former Yugoslavia than sang. Some of his songs were all-time hits in multiple interpretations. An example of this is "Bacila je sve niz rijeku" ("She threw everything down the river") that was a hit in his interpretation, and also in the interpretations of "Crvena Jabuka" and "Indexi". The same happened to songs "Nekako s proljeća" ("Somehow in a springtime") and "Nije htjela" ("She didn't want").
