The Society of London Theatre

The Society of London Theatre (previously The Society of West End Theatre) is an umbrella organization for West End theatre in London.

Half-price theatre ticket booth

The Society operates the only official half-price London theatre ticket booth in Leicester Square, from which tickets for a number of theatres can be bought on the day of the performance by personal callers only - there is no telephone number. Most tickets are half-price plus a service charge of £2.50 [ [http://www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/tkts tkts Half Price Theatre Ticket Booth | Official London Theatre Guide ] ] . The booth is known as "tkts" and is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 until 19:00 and on Sundays from 12:00 until 15:00 [ [http://www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/tkts/leicestersquare tkts Leicester Square | Official London Theatre Guide ] ] .

After the official ticket booth in Leicester Square was set up, a number of other ticket agencies nearby put up large signs calling themselves official half-price ticket sellers, perhaps to attract those who knew that there was a booth in the area, but not its exact location. These are unrelated to the official sites, and should not be relied upon.

Laurence Olivier Awards

The society organize the annual Laurence Olivier Awards. Up until, and including, 1983, the awards were popularly known as the SWET Awards.
