Genetics Society of America

The Genetics Society of America is a non-exclusive association of genetics researchers and educators, and the publisher of the peer-reviewed journal "Genetics".

The Genetics Society of America was established in 1931. It includes over 4000 scientists and educators with similar genetic interests. They promote communication of the genetic advancements through their journal, "Genetics", and by organizing scientific meetings that focus on model organisms used in scientific research. The society organizes several international genetics conferences, and recognizes geneticists by awarding the following annual awards:

*The Thomas Hunt Morgan Medal for lifetime contributions
*The Genetics Society of America Medal for outstanding contributions in the last 15 years
*The George W. Beadle Award for outstanding contributions to the community of genetics researchers
