Institute of Engineering and Technology, DAVV

Institute of Engineering and Technology, popularly known as IET, is an engineering college affiliated to Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya. The college was founded as an autonomous institute in the year 1996. It is located in the Takshashila campus of the university on Khandwa Road in the south-east of Indore city, Madhya Pradesh, India.

Situated in a large lush green campus, IET offers undergraduate and graduate engineering programs in five major disciplines along with hosting a wide variety of research labs and student outreach programs.

History

IET was founded in the year 1996 as part of an effort to increase the number of seats in Engineering Colleges state-wide. Complementing the renowned DAVV School of Electronics and the International Institute for Professional Studies (IIPS), the college helped complement the Technology and Management related offerings from the University of Indore (DAVV). The presence of world renowned Scientific Institutes like Center for Advanced Technology (CAT) and growing technology parks around the city made it possible to provide the resources necessary to transform it into one of the leading centers of learning in Western Madhya Pradesh.The institute offers courses in undergraduate categories as well as in post graduate categories VIZ. BE,ME,M.Sc. The college plans to increase the number of disciplines in near by future.

Future Plans

The institute in a constant upgradation mode. The Management has envisaged a sumptuous expansion plan for the institute that includes individual labs for each vertical in an engineering discipline and quarters for faculties.

The institute primarily has three departmental blocks, namely Computer & IT block, Electronics block and Mechanical block along with the main block. The institute also has separate buildings for library, workshop and automobile testing. Other than this, the institute is continuously improving its infrastructure. A hostel for girls and residential blocks for faculty are also under construction.

Admission Procedure

Admission to the college is granted on the basis of applicants rank in the merit list from the Pre Engineering Test (PET) conducted by the state of Madhya Pradesh Education Board and some seats are alloted based on the AIEEE merit list, the exam is conducted by CBSE.

Academics

Computer Engineering and Electronics departments from the institute have produced many engineers with illustrious track record. Many of them are at good places in Global as well as national IT MNCs viz. IBM, Oracle Corporation, SAP AG, Tech Mahindra, Computer Sciences Corporation, Sapient, TCS, Wipro, Infosys and HCL.

Some of the Electronics and Instrumentation Engineers has secured top positions in All India GATE examination.For instance, in GATE-2008 the institute produced 5 students in top 25 AIR in INSTRUMENTATION branch (Harsh Khanna AIR-24), AIR-5 in COMPUTER branch, which add assets to IET's mettle.Large number of students have shown a marvelous performance in other examinations like GRE,CAT.

The institute is currently the choice of top rank holders in MP.
