Established in

Janet Clarke Hall is a leading academic College which offers a highly supportive and intellectually stimulating environment for students. JCH places emphasis upon supporting and encouraging its students in their professional and personal formation, offering strong academic and pastoral support.
JCH students are offered opportunities to participate in the arts, a wide range of sports, drama, debating, and a social calendar including balls, dinners, and parties.
Scholarships
Janet Clarke Hall offers a range of scholarships and bursaries to students upon the basis of academic merit and financial need. Academic and community service scholarships were awarded to more than a third of students this year.
The scholarships are awarded upon the recommendation to the College Council of a committee comprising the Principal, Chairman of Council, and a representative of the University of Melbourne. All details regarding requests for financial assistance are kept strictly confidential to the College.
Artist in Residence
The current Artist-in-Residence is Dr
Anna Goldsworthy , an acclaimed classical pianist and writer.The Artist in Residence program brings artists and the College community together in an environment which encourages exploration, dialogue, and enjoyment. Throughout the year, Dr Goldsworthy performs recitals for the College's benefit.
Dr Goldsworthy frequently performs with Australian orchestras and in 2004 completed a triumphant world tour performing in festivals and concert halls in Australia, Asia, Europe and North and South America. ABC Classics have signed Goldsworthy to record a CD of music Anna performed while on tour.
Literary Focus
The College has an annual literature dinner where an established author speaks to the college about their writing and any topical issues. Past speakers have included
Helen Garner ,Peter Goldsworthy ,Alice Pung ,Shane Maloney , andPeter Singer .The Student Club of Janet Clarke Hall Incorporated
The Student Club of Janet Clarke Hall Inc. provides students with support and organises social, sporting and cultural activities. Particularly significant is the college's "Orientation Week," inducting new students into the unique culture of JCH. It is reported to have been "the best week of my life" for many. The Student Club is administered by an eight-member executive, comprising President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Arts & Culture Rep, Female & Male Sports Reps, and a General Rep.
