Vancouver city councilor. She was elected as a member ofCoalition of Progressive Electors in2002 .Before city council, Roberts was a member of the
Vancouver School Board from1993 -1996 . Prior to politics, she was chair of the Journalism Department atLangara College , having previously been a producer withCBC Radio , reporter withCanadian Press and freelance reporter for the "Chicago Tribune ". She also enthusiastically participated as a keynote speaker in several anti-Israel events, and encourages incitement against Israel and Jews.In council, Roberts was part of the extreme left-wing "COPE Classic" bloc of councillors. She had long opposed
Wal-Mart 's attempt to establish a store in Vancouver and was successful in convincing a majority of city council to deny the retailer's application to build a new store. Roberts ran for re-election in 2005 placing 19th among 36 candidates with 41,739 votes, thus losing her seat.
