Washington Singer Stakes

The Washington Singer Stakes is a Listed flat horse race in the United Kingdom open to two-year-old thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 7 furlongs (1,408 metres) at Newbury Racecourse, and it takes place annually in mid August.

It has been won by several subsequent Classic winners, perhaps most notably Lammtarra, the 1995 Epsom Derby winner, who made his debut here. Other future stars to emerge from this race include Rodrigo de Triano and Haafhd, who both went on to win the 2,000 Guineas the following season.

The race is named after the racehorse owner Washington Singer (1866–1934).

Winners since 1986

* Prince of Dance finished first in 1988 but was subsequently disqualified for being ineligible to run in the race.
