The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore

"The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore" (1963) is a play written by Tennessee Williams that debuted at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy in July 1962. Its first American production was in January 1963, but it only ran for 69 performances at the Morosco Theatre in New York.ref|production Reviews of the play were generally poor.ref|critic It was revised and re-mounted in January 1964 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre and ran 5 performances. In 1968, the play was adapted by Gore Vidal into the film "Boom!".

ynopsis

The play is set in Italy and centres on a wealthy old woman, a Mrs Goforth, who catches a young man, Christopher Flanders, allegedly trespassing on her estate. Dialogue between the two makes up much of the play, and in the end the former dies after a long struggle against a terminal illness.
