Kinondoni District is the northernmost of three districts in
Dar es Salaam ,Tanzania , the others beingTemeke (to the far Southeast) andIlala (downtown Dar es Salaam). To the east is theIndian Ocean , to the north and west thePwani Region ofTanzania . The 2002 Tanzanian NationalCensus showed that the population of Kinondoni was 1,083,913.
