This district (north part of Dojima) was suburban farm village at
Edo period , and large factories especially of textile were built afterMeiji period .Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. was established in 1918 in Fukushima-ku. Even present days, there is many printing factory and wholeseler of automobile parts at this place. Prior toWorld War II ,Osaka University Hospital and Osaka City Central Market was built.After World War II, many office buildings were built around JR Fukushima station, because the place is close toUmeda (business centre of westernJapan ). Other place of Fukushima-ku is converted from factory into residential quarter and commercial district.Recent years, high rise apartment building was built at many places in Fukushima-ku. In 2008,
