IEEE 802.11m is an initiative to perform editorial maintenance, corrections, improvements, clarifications, and interpretations relevant to documentation for the
IEEE 802.11 family specifications. The term 802.11m also refers to the set of maintenance releases itself.802.11 is a set of
IEEE standards that govern wireless networking transmission methods. They are commonly used today in their802.11a ,802.11b , and802.11g versions to provide wireless connectivity in the home, office and some commercial establishments.Editorial Maintenance
The 802.11m initiative, sometimes called "802.11 housekeeping" or "802.11 cleanup," was begun in 1999 by IEEE Task Group M, a part of the IEEE 802.11 Working Group.
802.11REVma / 802.11-2007
In 2003 a project was authorized to "roll up" many of the amendments to the 1999 version of the 802.11 standard. REVma, as it was called, created a single document that merged 8 amendments (802.11a,b,d,e,g,h,i,j) with the base standard. Upon approval in March of 2007, 802.11REVma was renamed 802.11-2007
