Steelman attended Henderson Brown College in
Arkadelphia, Arkansas and graduated in (AB 1922). He later went toVanderbilt University , (MA 1924) and University of North Carolina (PhD 1928). He was Professor of Sociology and Economics, Alabama College,Montevallo, Alabama from 1928-1934.Before joining the
