The QSI International School of Yerevan (QSIY) is an international school in Yerevan, Armenia and part of the Quality Schools International group. It is an independent, coeducational day school which offers an educational program to children of all nationalities ages 3 to 18. The 2006-2007 academic year saw a return to classroom instruction for the secondary students. Some secondary classes are offered as correspondence courses through the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Independent Study High School. QSIY was founded in 1995. [http://www.state.gov/m/a/os/1385.htm QSI School] released by the US Office of Overseas Schools, December 20 2004]

At the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year, enrolment was 100 and there were 14 full-time faculty members.

Curriculum

The school offers a performance-based educational program with a curriculum similar to that of U.S. public and private schools. Instruction, leading to individual mastery, takes advantage of small class sizes and the diverse educational backgrounds of the students. Instruction is in English. Courses include English, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, Russian, French, art and music. Soccer, basketball, karate, dance, Brownies, chess, Armenian language, drama and other activities are offered as after-school activities. The elementary grades are accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Facilities

The school moved to a new location during August 1999 and is located above the office of a furniture factory. There are, at present, nine classrooms (although four are small), a library, a computer lab, offices, a multi-purpose room, and four bathrooms. There is also a large playground, a soccer pitch, a volleyball court, and an outside stage. A wall surrounds the School, and there are 24-hour security staff.
