Roger Blackwell

Roger Blackwell

Roger Blackwell is an American recognized marketing expert and public speaker. He has a reputation throughout that country.

He has written several books on marketing including "Consumer Behavior" (ISBN 0-03-021108-5), "From Mind to Market : Reinventing the Retail Supply Chain" (ISBN 0-88730-833-3) and "Customers Rule!" (ISBN 0-609-60865-7).

Blackwell was a long-time marketing professor at The Ohio State University and has been referred to as "The Father of Consumer Behavior" for his pioneering, albeit rather cumbersome, model of the consumer decision-making process.

Insider trading conviction

While serving on the board of Worthington Foods, Blackwell shared knowledge of a pending acquisition by Kellogg's to family members, business partners, and acquaintances. Having garnered this information, subsequent stock purchases of Worthington were made, and the speculators reaped the windfall of value transfer from the acquirer to the target firm.

He was convicted for 19 counts of insider trading during the summer of 2005, and is currently serving a six year sentence in federal prison in Morgantown, WV.
