Jørgen Brønlund Fjord

Jørgen Brønlund Fjord (occasionally: "Brønlund Fjord"), located at the southern shore of the namesake fjord in Peary Land, northern Greenland, was a radio station and until 1950 the northernmost permanent outpost of the world, at coord|82|10.5|N|29|23.3|W. Since then, Alert, a Canadian settlement, and more recently the Russian settlement of Barneo holds this distinction. Brøndlund Fjord, the fjord, is about 30 km long and 1 to 2 km wide, and opens out to Independence Fjord from the north, with its mouth at coord|82|7.5|N|29|53.3|W.
