"Ever Dream" is a song by Nightwish which was the group's first single release in two years. The single also preluded a new album; "Century Child".

Style

"Ever Dream" is of a more operatic nature than later works and the music itself is more on the heavy metal side.

In live performances of the song, the intro is played differently, with only the keyboard and vocals present for the first verse, before all the band come in after the intro.

Differences between performers

Ever Dream was written for the voice of Tarja Turunen. She sang the song less operatically than earlier songs, such as Sacrament of Wilderness. Nightwish still play Ever Dream live with the new vocalist, Anette Olzon, though they have not recorded a version with her. Anette, of course, changed some notes to fit her vocal range and style. She sings the chorus, for example, in a more upbeat, non operatic style.
