comic book series written bySteve Gerber and drawn byVal Mayerik , it was published byEpic Comics from1983 to1984 .Publishing history
"Void Indigo" started life as one of the first
graphic novels ("Marvel Graphic Novel " #11) published byEpic Comics in1983 . It was then meant to spin out into a further six-issuelimited series again published by Epic. However reaction to the first issue of the series was highly negative from distributors due to the extreme (for its time) portrayal of violence.Critical reaction to this violence was harsh. In his column "The Law is a Ass" forComics Buyer's Guide Bob Ingersoll even cited the book as being a "crime against humanity." He was, however, being intentionally hyperbolic for comedic effect. It focused on an alien from a peaceful race named Jaghur (known on earth as "
Mick Jagger ") reincarnated with a spirit of vengeance against seven demons that tortured and killed a more barbaric incarnation of his soul. He came toLos Angeles at the end of the graphic novel.Orders for the second issue dropped dramatically due to negative reviews, and Epic's editor-in-chief Archie Goodwin considered it not worth publishing the book due to the severe pressure he and the company were under.fact|date=September 2008
Issues 3-6 were never completed and it was thought the ending of the series was lost forever. However the synopsis of issues 3-6 was later leaked onto the Internet, [ [http://www.totse.com/en/ego/science_fiction/indigo-2.html Synopsis of issues #3-6] ] providing an idea as to how the series would have finished.
