Consort Chen (Chinese: 辰妃) (1609–1641) was a concubine of Emperor Hong Taiji.
Biography
Consort Chen neé Borjigit was Mongol of origin. Her personal name was Harjol[1] (海兰珠). She was the daughter of Jaisang. She was brought to the Imperial Palace in Mukden and married the Emperor in 1634. At the time her younger sister, Bumbutai, and aunt, Jere, were already married to the Emperor.
After the establishment of the Qing dynasty in 1636 Harjol was granted the title of Consort Chen of the Guanju Palace (关睢宫宸妃). It is said that Harjol was Hong Taiji's favourite consort.[2] In 1637 she gave birth to a son who died in 1638.
Harjol died aged 32 in the 15th year of Huang Taiji's reign and was interred in the Zhaoling mausoleum for imperial concubines. After her death she was given the posthumous title of First Consort Min Hui Gong He (敏惠恭和元妃).
