RPGMP3

RPGMP3 is a role-playing game podcast website. The site records and podcasts audio sessions of several modern and classic RPG campaigns, most recently and notably an audio review of the Alderac Entertainment Group Dungeons & Dragons campaign, " The World's Largest Dungeon." There are also a number of one off sessions, convention recordings, reviews and mini sessions as well as gaming inspired songs, music and humour.

Games

The intent of the site is to record and publicise role-playing games in a positive light by highlighting how a typical group interacts and deals with the process - both in and out of character. It has helped many to return to be hobby as well as given others a point of reference in order to begin playing on their own. The forums on the site allow (and encourage) questions to be asked about roleplaying and gaming in general, as well as including forum games and in-depth gaming discussions.

The Return To The Temple Of Elemental Evil

The site began with a test of a conference microphone that Lindsay had given Paul for his minidisc player. The test was a session of Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil being run by Hal at the local gaming society. The audio was not fantastic quality but when uploaded to the internet they proved to be popular and RPGMP3 was born.

Call of Cthulhu: The Haunting

After the success of the original recording, one of the first files to be recorded was The Haunting for Call of Cthulhu. This adventure had been with the game since it was first published and seemed appropriate in order to draw interest to the site. The adventure was again recorded at the local society on a minidisc recorder, there were some technical issues towards the end of the recording which meant that the end of the game was missed (which was a shame as it contained an excellent scene involving dynamite juggling).

The World's Largest Dungeon

The release of The World's Largest Dungeon was the beginning of the largest project the site was able to undertake. Starting with 4 players, and eventually growing to 5, the group began to venture with the largest gaming product ever made with the intention of recording every session, every dice roll, every discussion about takeout food and politics. The recording of this campaign lasted over 2 years and resulted in over 5 days of solid audio which was released to the unsuspecting gaming community. The campaign was something of a phenomenon, gaining a fan following as they found the site.

Characters include Balazar (Dwarven Wizard), Feylin Hilltople (Halfling Rogue), Gerout (Half-Orc Fighter), Bastion of Torm (Human Cleric), Wilwarin Windblossom (Elf Monk), Tharus (Human Cleric), Arrandh (Elf Wizard), Tsong (Celestial Fighter), and Golden Justice (Half-Dragon Monk/Fighter).

The Banewarrens

In advance of the release of Ptolus by Monte Cook the site has just begun the recording and presentation of The Banewarrens. This was the first adventure released using the Ptolus setting and provides an excellent lead in and introduction to the world, especially when combined with other products from Malhavoc Press. The game has already established some excellent characters including Morwen Crestrider (the Elven Pirate Wizard), Thierry Silverfingers (the Dwarven Rogue Engineer), Andreas The Conjurer and his indentured servant Urnst, and Korgash and Corvan (the Barbarian twins). Sadly The Banewarrens was cut short by some rather bad luck on the part of the party and some very good rolls on the part of the DM.

The Sunless Citadel

Following the rather untimely end to The Banewarrens, RPGMP3 started the release of "The Sunless Citadel". This was the first published adventure for the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game and was considered to be a good way to fill the void left by the death of The Banewarrens party.

Labour of Love

The owner of the site moved to Texas just before Christmas of 2006 and managed to get another gaming group together. The site now plays out of Enigma's Collectibles and Games in Houston, Texas. The new sessions include new binaural recording technology and Labour of Love is a homebrew scenario. The large group of adventurers are given the task of escorting a young woman to her future husband, via an enchanted pool which is alleged to bless the union of anyone who bathes in it. This will lead onto the [http://www.lulu.com/content/783335 Tomb of Haggemoth] with was written by Robert Kendzie who writes the "Dire Destiny" webcomic. The new party includes Bardok Ironhead (Dwarven Cleric of Moradin), Milo Thorngage (Halfling Rogue), Dru Caledad (Gold Elf Wizard), Murival Nodello (Elven Wizard), Grogan Surefoot (Dwarven Fighter of low intellect), Royce Gracie (Human Fighter / Specialist in the Spiked Chain), Wilamina Treebark (Halfling Druid and Woofy the Riding Dog) and Rjagüjar Hjellstjürm (Dwarven Bard with nihilistic views).

Tomb of Haggemoth

After Labour of Love, the group begins the Tomb of Haggemoth, written by Robert Kendzie, which was inspired by previous audio games. New characters include Sharia (Human Temptress) and Eimer Thorngage (Halfling Rogue/Paladin), twin sister of Milo Thorngage.

Other Games

Other audio recording/reviews of games include Truth and Justice by Atomic Sock Monkey Press, Dogs in the Vineyard by Lumpley Games, and Warlords of the Accordlands by Alderac Entertainment Group.
