Belarusian Association of Journalists

The Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ) is a Belarusian non-governmental organisation, "aiming to ensure freedom of speech and rights of receiving and distributing information and promoting professional standards of journalism" ( [http://baj.ru/indexe.htm] ).

It was founded in 1995. BAJ is an affiliate of the International Federation of Journalists and a partner of Reporters Without Borders.

In 2002, BAJ was honoured with the World Association of Newspapers' Golden Pen of Freedom Award. In 2004, it received the European Parliament's Sakharov Prize.
