- Kold Sweat
Kold Sweat were a record label founded in the early 1990s by Angelo Starr, releasing predominantly
British hip hop records. They followed the success of the first dedicatedBritish hip hop label,Music of Life , discovering a whole host of big names in the UK scene: Son of Noise (poached fromMusic of Life ,Katch 22 ,Krispy 3 ,Unanimous Decision andStanding Ovation .Kold Sweat were, arguably, one of the most successful British hip hop labels of the early scene, with their records (and their distinctive green sleeves) getting radio play and selling in numbers that started to attract bigger name labels to the scene. Unfortunately for the record label, the
American Hip Hop market was flourishing and Kold Sweat artists like theF9's andPoint Black simply could not compete with the quantity and quality coming out of the U.S. TheF9's now legendary awful album titled 'The F9's are a Hip Hop band' must go down as one of the worstBritish Hip Hop albums ever released. Kold Sweat's somewhat limited success did not last, and Kold Sweat ceased trading in the mid-1990s, leaving their artists homeless.See also
