Back story

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota with twin sister Brenda (Shannen Doherty), Brandon was the eldest child of Jim & Cindy Walsh. As a result of Jim's job promotion, the family moved to Beverly Hills in 1990, where Brandon and Brenda enrolled at the local West Beverly Hills High School—where in the pilot they met new friends Steve Sanders (Ian Ziering) and Kelly Taylor (Jennie Garth). In episode two, "The Green Room," Brandon befriended loner Dylan McKay (Luke Perry).

Love life

During the show's run, Brandon gained notoriety for having a remarkably high number of relationships, sometimes only for one episode, played largely by series guest stars. Among the most notable were the troubled Emily Valentine (Christine Elise), who tried to burn down the West Beverly High Homecoming float; the bigoted Brooke Alexander (Alexandra Wilson), who assumed Andrea Zuckerman was rich just because she was Jewish; and sophomore Nikki Witt (Dana Barron), a persistent girl who comically wore down Brandon's defenses during the episode "The Back Story." Brandon even had a brief relationship with a married university professor, Lucinda Nicholson (Dina Meyer). Ultimately, his deepest love was for Kelly, a once-posh girl who attempted to win Brandon's heart twice throughout the series, succeeding the second time (in "Mr. Walsh Goes to Washington"), and gradually becoming a more compassionate character after moving in with him once his parents and Brenda had moved away.

In between relationships with Kelly, Brandon gets involved with two of his co-workers. As a junior, he has a passionate relationship with his editor at the California University newspaper, Susan Keats (Emma Caulfield). Brandon and Susan pledge to take a cross-country trip in the summer of 1996, but Susan ultimately accepts a position with the Clinton-Gore re-election campaign, leaving Brandon to instead take the trip with Steve.

During his senior year, Brandon slowly falls for the anchor at the CU television station, Tracy Gaylian (Jill Elizabeth Novick). Tracy one day finds the engagement ring Brandon tried to give to Kelly in a dresser drawer, and assumes it's for her. When Brandon explains it's not for Tracy, she becomes distrusting of Brandon. The two patch things up, and Brandon agrees to sell back his ring at the jewellery store and exchanges it for a bracelet. Once Brandon leaves, Kelly returns to the store and buys the ring for herself. Brandon takes Tracy to Hong Kong to meet his father, but upon their return to the United States, Brandon realizes his true feelings for Kelly and breaks up with Tracy. Tracy and Brandon reunite in Hawaii in the season eight opener, leaving Kelly perturbed, but her doubts are erased when she meets Tracy's fiance.

In season 8, Brandon and Kelly finally decide to marry each other, but stop at the last minute as they feel they are not ready to do this. The two are shown to still have feelings for each other in season 9, as they share a kiss. However, with Jason Priestley's, and Brandon's, departure from the show, their romance ends.

90210

In the series premiere of 90210, Brenda tells Kelly that Brandon is currently in Belize. He also tells Brenda to tell Kelly that he thinks that she is beautiful. Kelly also mentions that Brandon has called her at 3 AM before to talk. In episode 6, Brenda reveals that she may go visit Brandon and his family. It is implied that in the eight years between the two shows Brandon has started a family. It is unknown with who or if he is married/ has kids.
