Stjerneborg was
Tycho Brahe 's undergroundobservatory next to his palace-observatoryUraniborg , located on the island ofHven inOresund .Tycho Brahe built it circa
1581 , when he found Uraniborg neither stable nor large enough for his precision instruments. He named it Stellaburgi inLatin . Both the Danish and Latin names mean "castle of the stars".The underground portions of the observatory were excavated in the 1950s and are today fitted with a roof approximating a multimedia show open to the public.
