Almavision began broadcasting on
December 28 ,2002 as VidaVision (not to be confused withTvidaVision ), with a daily transmission on channel 38 inLos Angeles, California . In early2003 , this group found out there was [http://www.vidavision.us/ another group] inFlorida using that name so they renamed their group Almavision (meaning Vision for the Souls). In May they were told that a change of frequency would take place in just two weeks – from channel 38 (then KNET-LP, now KPXN-DT) to channel 25 (now KNET-LP). However, due to an error on the part of the station engineers, the change was made only one day after they had been notified. On May 28th, they were offered the opportunity to manage channel 45 in Los Angeles (KLAU-LP, now an independent station that shows Spanish-language infomercials for local area car dealerships). Because of the low coverage and picture quality of channel 25, they accepted. The deal also included management of channel 59 in Las Vegas and channel 7 in San Antonio . The first full-time Spanish Christian television network in the US had begun in those three cities.
On
August 1 ,2003 , they began broadcasting onSat-Mex 5 , with a footprint covering from southCanada all the way toArgentina .Current Stations
