Osanobua

Osanobua

Osanobua is the name for God Almighty in Edo language. It is often abbrevated as Osa, which is commonly integrated into modern Edo names, such as Esosa, which means God's goodness or gift; Eghosa, God's time; and Efosa, God's blessings or wealth.

The Edo as a state has several languages, The Beni, Esan, Ewohimi, Ewato, Etsako, Ora, Auchi, Igueben, Iruekpen to mention but a few. The Esan people of Edo State called God, Osenebra. It is often abbreviated as Ose. We also describes God severally as Ofuekenede (merciful God), Okakaludo (Stronger than stone), Obo no su obo or Obo no lo obo (the great Phycician), etc.

Obo no su obo or Obo no lo obo actually means the same thing depending on where the individual speaker comes from. This is largely because of slight variations in the Esan language from one community to another.
