Uchter Knox, 5th Earl of Ranfurly

Uchter John Mark Knox, 5th Earl of Ranfurly GCMG (1856–1933) was a Governor of New Zealand. Lord Ranfurly was educated at Harrow and Cambridge. He is best known for his donation of the Ranfurly Shield, a New Zealand sporting trophy.

On 10 February 1880, Lord Ranfurly married Hon. Constance Caulfield (the only child of the 7th Viscount Charlemont) and they had four children:

*Thomas Uchter, Viscount Northland (1882-1915)
*Lady Annette Agnes (1880-1886)
*Lady Constance Harriet Stuart (1885-1964)
*Lady Eileen Maud Juliana (1891-1972)
