Joëlle F.G.M. Milquet (born
February 17 1961 inCharleroi ) is a Belgian politician from theHumanist Democratic Centre (CDH).Education
She graduated in law at the
Université Catholique de Louvain in 1984. In 1985, she graduated in European law at theUniversiteit van Amsterdam (UvA)Career
She started her career at the Bar in
Brussels . From 1995 to 1999 she was a delegate to theBelgian Senate . She has been the president of her party since and played a prominent role in the 2007-2008 formation negotiations which led to a new government in March 2008, theLeterme I Government . She is now Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Employment and Equal Opportunities in the Leterme I Government, which took office onMarch 20 ,2008 .
