"SAOIRSE Irish Freedom" is the monthly organ of Republican Sinn Féin. It was first published in May 1987 and incorporated the "Republican Bulletin" [ [http://www.rsf.ie/saoirse/1987/may87.pdf SAOIRSE Irish Freedom, first issue] .] The name is derived from the Irish word for "Freedom". It is also a given name to females and males in Ireland. It had been popular since the 1920s. "Saoirse" is pronounced "sear+sha".
