Lourdes College, located in Sylvania, Ohio, United States, and another school with the same name at cagayan de oro city, was founded by the Sisters of St. Francis in order to educate sisters of the order.

A private commuter college, Lourdes offers baccalaureate degree programs in the arts and sciences, nursing and professional studies (including business, education, leadership studies and social work). The college also offers graduate degrees in education, nursing and organizational leadership.

Founded by the Sisters of St. Francis, Lourdes describes as one of its goals to offer its students the opportunity to learn in an environment that follows its Franciscan values of community, learning, reverence and service [cite web|url=http://www.lourdes.edu/why_lourdes/?s=69&c=90|title=Lourdes College: Why Lourdes?|accessdate=2008-07-26|date=2008|publisher=Lourdes College] . History

Lourdes began in 1943 as an extension campus of the College of St. Theresa, Winona, Minnesota. [cite web|url=http://www.lourdes.edu/why_lourdes/?s=94&c=0|title=History of Lourdes College|publisher=Lourdes College|accessdate=2008-07-26] Lourdes Junior College was founded in 1958. Originally established to educate sisters of the Franciscan community, Lourdes College began to admit lay women in 1969 and lay men in 1975. The college received its certificate of authorization from the Ohio State Board of Education in January, 1958, and was accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools in 1964. It was independently incorporated as Lourdes College in 1973.

In 1982, the Ohio Board of Regents authorized Lourdes College to grant two baccalaureate degrees, the Bachelor of Individualized Studies and the Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies. In 1986 the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Nursing were authorized. These were then accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The BSN Program was accredited by the National League of Nurses in 1989. The Bachelor of Science was authorized in 1999. In 2002, graduate Ddegrees in Education and Organizational Leadership were accredited.

With student enrollment reaching an all-time high of 2,035 in the 2006-2007 academic year, Lourdes commenced construction of a new academic building in October 2006. The new building, which opened in 2007, met the demand for additional classrooms, a new learning center, and space for finance and information technology operations.
