Gustavo Petricioli Iturbide (b.
August 19 ,1928 inMexico City ) is aMexican economist. He served as secretary of finance (1986 – 1988) in the last cabinet ofMiguel de la Madrid and as Mexicanambassador to theUnited States .Petricioli is the son of Carlos Petricioli Alarcón and Ada Iturbide Preciat. He received a
bachelor's degree ineconomics from theITAM and amaster's degree in economics fromYale University . He joined theRevolutionary Institutional Party in 1952.Before joining the federal cabinet Petricioli served as deputy director of the
Bank of Mexico , asunder-secretary of finance (1970 – 1974) and as general director of "Nacional Financiera" (1982 – 1986).As secretary of finance, Petricioli co-authored the Pact for Stability and Economic Growth (in Spanish: "Pacto para la estabilidad y el crecimiento económico"), a national strategy to control the fiscal deficit and inflation in coordination with the private sector.he has 4 children Gustavo Petricioli Morales Ada Petricioli Morales Hugo Petricioli y Marialuisa Petricioli. He is married to Blanca Morales Murphy. A statue of Gustavo Petricioli was erected at the entrance of the "Lomas de Ahuatlan" housing development in Cuernavaca, Mexico. This was done because he was a longtime resident of the city.
