William B. Brahms (born October 1, 1966) is an American librarian and author best known for his work on historical "lasts" (as opposed to "firsts"), in particular, the core reference work "Notable Last Facts".

Life and work

William B. Brahms was born in Camden, New Jersey and was raised and still lives in Haddon Township, New Jersey. He graduated as a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Cap and Skull from Rutgers College with a B.A. and from Rutgers University Graduate School of Communication Information and Library Studies with an M.L.S. He has spent his entire career working in public libraries in New Jersey. Currently he manages the largest branch of the Camden County, New Jersey Library System, located in Voorhees Township, New Jersey. He is also President of Reference Desk Press, Inc. [Who's Who in America, Marquis Who's Who, LLC., 58th ed. (2004), 60th ed. (2006), 61st ed. (2007), 62 ed. (2008), 63 ed. (2009)] and has published five books, including the heralded reference work "Notable Last Facts " which received highest recommendations from the American Library Association's journals, CHOICE() and Booklist. It was also selected as an "Achievement in Publishing" in "Booklist's 2005 Editor's Choice issue. Notable Last Facts " is listed as a recommended Best Book in Public Library Catalog, Supplement to the 12th Edition, H.W. Wilson (2006) and "Senior High School Library Catalog", Sixteenth Edition, 2006 Supplement, H.W. Wilson (2006). Brahms is in prepublication of the largest, "source-cited" collection of "Notable" Last Words ever compiled due out in 2008. In particular, his books on Franklin Township, Somerset County, New Jersey [cite web|url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_Township,_Somerset_County,_New_Jersey|title=Franklin Township, New Jersey] are standard sources for historical information on Franklin Township, where he served as official Township Historian for six years. These works include: "Franklin Township Somerset County, NJ: A History", and "Images of America: Franklin Township" which are often cited on topics retlated to Franklin Township including:Franklin Park, New Jersey, East Millstone, New Jersey, Somerset, New Jersey, Middlebush, New Jersey, Kingston, New Jersey, Six Mile Run, New Jersey, Blackwells Mills, New Jersey, Weston, New Jersey, Zarephath, New Jersey, the Hall-Mills Murder, Marconi Company, the Middlebush Giant, John Honeyman, Matthew Leydt, the Franklin Inn and numerous other regional subjects, both in online works, printed works and periodicals. Brahms is also the official historian of several large organizations where he has produced historical material that are basic reference works on those groups including the Cap and Skull Society.
