Bandarlapalle

Bandarlapalle is a small village in the Palmaner Taluk of Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh in India.

The village is situated in the South East of Deccan Plateau. There are some places of historic significance around Bandarlapalle like Sitamma Konda and Ramakuppam. About ten miles from Bandarlapalle the Deccan Plateau ends in a dense forest range, sloping down into the plains of Tamilnadu.

The villagers are mainly a farming community. Agriculture mainly depends on the seasonal monsoon rains, excessive rain water is stored in the two man made lakes, which is a feature of every village in the Deccan Plateau of south India. The main crops are Ragi, Rice, Groundnuts, Wheat and Pulses. People also get themselves involved in farming sheep and goat, which is the main profession of most Kuruba Gowdas who are a majority people in the village.

Bandarlapalle was very backward and under developed until recently. However, since the last decade there has lot of developmental work taken place, with good roads, drinking water and schools being built.

The major festival of the village is Sankranthi, the festival of harvest which is celebrated to thank the god almighty for the good harvest. The main attraction is the Bull race, which attracts people from surrounding towns and villages.
