The Bare-bellied hedgehog ("Paraechinus nudiventris"), also known as the Madras hedgehog, is a rare species of hedgehog in the "Paraechinus" genus. Although for some time it was considered extinct, it has been recently rediscovered and is currently observed in India at Kalakad–Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve, although further research is needed.
