Ian Hargreaves

Ian Hargreaves

Ian Hargreaves (born 18 June 1951) is Professor of Journalism at the Centre for Journalism Studies (JOMEC) at Cardiff University, Wales, UK, was educated at Queens' College, Cambridge where he read English with French. He is an occasional writer for various UK publications, and a panellist on BBC Radio 4's "Moral Maze".

His career in British journalism includes several beats at the "Financial Times", Directorship of BBC News & Current Affairs, and Editorship of "The Independent" and the "New Statesman".

He actively supports a range of UK and international organisations, from Demos to Greenpeace. He is married to Adele Blakebrough, co-founder and Director of Community Action Network.
