Patrick Johnson (sprinter)

Patrick Johnson (born 26 September 1972, Cairns, Queensland) is an Australian athlete. The son of an Indigenous Australian mother and an Irish father, he was born on a speed boat enroute to Cairns Base Hospital.Fact|date=June 2008 In 2003, Johnson ran a time of 9.93 s (+1.8 m/s) in the 100 m in Mito, Japan, setting the Australian national record. This also made him the first man not of West African descent ever to run a wind-legal time under 10 seconds in the 100 metres. Johnson trains at the Australian Institute of Sport.

Johnson is fluent in Cantonese, Sinhalese and Japanese, and for a while worked as an officer at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

In additions to athletics, his sporting interests are reported to include touch football, rugby league, rugby union and basketball.
