1581 is one of the few in which starvation tactics were used to a successful completion of the siege. The forces ofToyotomi Hideyoshi cut the castle's supplies and surrounded it for 200 days. The siege ended when the lord of the castle,Kikkawa Tsuneie , surrendered and committed suicide.References
