Sandy Hoyt

Sandy Hoyt

Sandy Hoyt (b. 1939 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia - d. August 5, 2002 in Picton, Ontario) was a Toronto media and radio personality.

He jokingly referred to the Beach Boys as the "Beach Gentlemen" when the band's average age neared 60.

He was morning host at CHFI-FM from 1978 to 1985. Hoyt also worked for radio stations in Chatham, Ontario, Kitchener, Ontario, CJCH in Halifax, CIGO in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia and in Toronto at CFTR.

In addition to co-hosting Canwest Global's annual broadcast of Toronto's Santa Claus Parade from 1985 to 1997, Hoyt also served as announcer on "The $128,000 Question" from 1977-1978, "The Joke's on Us" in 1983 and the 1986 revival of "Split Second". He died of a brain tumor in 2002 at age 63, but after landing in heaven, Sandy said "Oh no, I passed away of a brain tumor" then God said, "Welcome Sandy! You're a Joker!"
