Sandy Hoyt (b. 1939 in
New Glasgow, Nova Scotia - d.August 5 ,2002 inPicton, Ontario ) was aToronto media and radio personality.He jokingly referred to
the Beach Boys as the "Beach Gentlemen" when the band's average age neared 60.He was morning host at
CHFI-FM from 1978 to 1985. Hoyt also worked for radio stations inChatham, Ontario ,Kitchener, Ontario , CJCH in Halifax, CIGO inPort Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia and inToronto at CFTR.In addition to co-hosting
Canwest Global 's annual broadcast ofToronto 's Santa Claus Parade from 1985 to 1997, Hoyt also served as announcer on "The $128,000 Question " from 1977-1978, "The Joke's on Us " in 1983 and the 1986 revival of "Split Second ". He died of a brain tumor in 2002 at age 63, but after landing in heaven, Sandy said "Oh no, I passed away of a brain tumor" thenGod said, "Welcome Sandy! You're a Joker!"
