Sarno River is a stream to the south of Naples in Italy, which passes through Pompeii. It is considered the most polluted river in Europe. [ [http://www.grinningplanet.com/2005/07-26/water-pollution-facts-article.htm Water Pollution Facts ] ] It flows about 24 km from Mt. Sarno to Naples.

History

It was known as "Sarnus" by the Romans.
