WYTU-LP (Channel 63) is a television station located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. WYTU is Milwaukee's affiliate for the Spanish-language Telemundo network. It is owned by Weigel Broadcasting, which also owns WDJT (Channel 58) and WMLW (Channel 41) in Milwaukee. The station airs all of Telemundo's schedule along with Spanish-language coverage of some Milwaukee Brewers baseball games.

WYTU is available on cable throughout southern Wisconsin.

History

The station launched a nightly 10-minute newscast in July 2007 within the 22:00 national edition of "Noticiero Telemundo" called "Noticiero Telemundo Wisconsin y tú" ("Wisconsin Telemundo News and You"), with production assistance from WDJT. The station launched its digital channel 17 on December 10 2007. [ [http://www.milwaukeehdtv.org/forums/showthread.php?t=7461 New low power digital station - MilwaukeeHDTV.org Forums ] ] Unlike the channel 13 digital signal of WMLW, WYTU-LD's digital signal reaches the southern portion of the adjacent Green Bay/Appleton DMA, and does not have to run at a reduced power to protect the analog signal of Grand Rapids Fox affiliate WXMI, which occasionally propagates over Lake Michigan. As a result, WYTU is carried on some cable systems in that market.
