Saitama Rapid Railway Line

Saitama Rapid Railway Line

The Saitama Railway Line is the continuation of the Namboku Line, starting at Akabane-Iwabuchi station in Tokyo and ending at Urawa Misono Station in Saitama. It was completed on March 28, 2001.

The Saitama Railway line (including Urawa Misono Station) was built in time for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, which held several of its matches at the Saitama Stadium.

In the future, the line may be extended north from Urawa-Misono through Iwatsuki-ku, Saitama to Hasuda Station (in Hasuda, Saitama) on JR East Utsunomiya Line. But serious financial problems have prevented Saitama Prefecture from the construction of new railway.
