Eugene Branstool

Eugene Branstool is an American politician of the Democratic party.

Branstool, a Utica, Ohio, farmer, held a seat in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1974 to 1982. He was a member of the Ohio Senate from 1982 to 1990 and served as minority whip.

In 1990, Branstool was chosen as the running mate of Democratic gubernatorial nominee Tony Celebrezze, who lost the election to George Voinovich.

In 1993, Branstool was appointed by President Bill Clinton to the office of assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, responsible for marketing and inspection services.

In 1994, Clinton appointed him chairman of the Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corporation.
