Nagare Akatsuki

Nagare Akatsuki is a character on the anime series of "Martian Successor Nadesico". He first appears after the battleship Nadesico reappears near the Moon after disappearing from Mars as part of the taskforce from the battleship Cosmos. He soon joins the regular cast as an Aestavalis pilot, and a very skilled one at that. He also carries with him the reputation as a playboy, though he is often seen with Jun Aoi and Seiya Uribitake eating instant ramen noodles, lamenting over Akito Tenkawa's inexplicable luck with the women of the Nadesico.

Presence in the plot

He and Akito Tenkawa don't get along well for several reasons. Akatsuki resents the anime Akito watches, Gekigangar 3, and anime in general. On top of that he has a thing for the captain of the ship, Yurika Misumaru, and feels Akito is a threat. There's something very mysterious about him that the crew doesn't quite understand, but it seems he has some major connections with Nergal Heavy Industries, who built the Nadesico. Eventually, later in the series, it is revealed that Akatsuki is actually the chairman and the only person capable of removing the master key from Nadesico, aside from Yurika.
