Imre Makovecz, born
November 20 1935 inBudapest ,Hungary , is a Hungarian architect active in Europe from the late 1950s onward. He attended theTechnical University of Budapest .Makovecz is one of the most prominent proponents of
organic architecture . As such, his buildings attempt to work with the natural surroundings rather than triumph over them.Frank Lloyd Wright andRudolf Steiner are both strong influences, as is traditional Hungarian art.Makovecz's key works include the
Sárospatak Cultural Center (completed in 1982), theVisegrád Sports Hall (1985), the Town Hall and Commercial Center ofDunaszerdahely and theKakasd Community Center (1996). His group designed the buildings of the Piliscsaba campus ofPázmány Péter Catholic University . In addition, he also designed Hungary's pavilion for the 1990World's Fair inSeville, Spain .Other important works are:
