Harrison Ford (March 16, 1884December 2, 1957) was a Broadway theatre actor and film actor during the silent film era.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Ford began acting on stage and made his Broadway debut in 1904. He appeared in plays such as: [ibdb|40861|Harrison Ford]
*a 1904 production of Richard Harding Davis's "Ranson's Folly";
*a 1905 production of William C. deMille's "Strongheart";
*a 1908 production of "Glorious Betsy" by Rida Johnson Young (the production lasted only 24 performances but the play was later adapted for an Oscar-nominated film of the same name);
*a 1912 production of Bayard Veiller's "The Fight" (which quickly closed);
*a 1913 production of Edgar Wallace's "The Switchboard"; and
*the 1915 productions of Edward Locke's "The Bubble" and Edgar Selwyn's "Rolling Stones".

He turned to film beginning in 1915 and moved to Hollywood. He became a leading man opposite early stars such as Constance Talmadge, Norma Talmadge, Marie Prevost, Marion Davies, and Clara Bow. Ford's film career ended with the advent of talkies. His final film, and only talkie, "Love in High Gear", was released in 1932. He returned to acting in the theatre afterwards. He also directed productions at the Little Theater of the Verdugos in Glendale, California.fact|date=August 2008

Personal life

Ford married New York stage actress Beatrice Prentice in 1905 or 1906 [1910 United States Census: Oakland city (Ward 5), Alameda County, California, ED 120, sheet 10B] .

In the early 1950s, he was struck by a car while out walking. He never recovered from the severe injuries received and died in 1957 in the Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital in Woodland Hills, California.
