Offender Aid and Restoration of Arlington County, Inc, a private nonprofit organization, has been assisting inmates and ex-offenders since 1974. OAR offers community-managed programs in Arlington, Alexandria and Falls Church aimed at restoring offenders to the community as productive and responsible citizens.

Alternative sentencing options help reduce overcrowding of local jails and provide services to community organizations. Programs for inmates and ex-offenders reduce recidivism, expand career options, build family stability, and enhance community life. Coordination with state and local criminal justice agencies facilitates the delivery of exceptional inmate programs and assists probationers and parolees in meeting their community supervision obligations. Trained volunteers support a variety of jail-based classes, groups and individual assistance.
